Get started printing with Filamet™ with this package designed for quick metal printing success.

Package includes:

0.5kg Spool of Bronze Filamet™
0.6mm Hardened Steel Nozzle *
Stainless Steel or Alumina Crucible - 300ml
Sintering Refractory Ballast - Al2O3
Sintering Refractory Ballast - Sintering Carbon

*If your printer does not use MK8 or MK10 nozzles, you will need to purchase a 0.6mm stainless or hardened steel nozzle separately.
You'll also need blue painters tape for bed adhesion. Filamet™ sticks hard to the print bed.


Bronze Filamet™ contains 88% - 90% metal and has a density of 4.29g/cc - 4.5g/cc. 
Filamet™ enables any Fused Filament Fabrication printer to produce metal objects. Once fired in a sintering furnace, the result is 100% metal.

What you'll need to print:
* An FFF/FDM 3D printer
* Stainless or hardened steel nozzle sized at 0.6mm or 0.8mm 
* Blue painters tape for your print bed. Glue sticks also work on glass print beds

What you'll need to debind & sinter:
* Any Kiln or Furnace that can hold the sinter temperature of your desired material. (Sinter temps listed here.) The Virtual Foundry sells two sizes of kiln: Starter and Pro
* Crucible 
* Sintering Refractory Ballast - Al2O3
* Sintering Carbon

Temperature: 205-235°C (401-455°F)
Set print bed to 40-50°C (104-122°F) (optional)

Tip: Put a layer of blue painters tape on the print bed. Our metal filament Filamet™ has great adhesion to the bed.

Speed: 30mm/sec (1800mm/min) to start.

Layer Height: Many slicers lay down an extra wide first layer to get good adhesion to the bed. This is not a problem unless the first layer is very short. With traditional PLA, it will simply squeeze out at the sides. Filamet™ is more viscous which slows this process. If the nozzle seems clogged, it may be that the nozzle is too close to the bed on the first layer. Once dialed in, some users are printing down to a layer height of 0.1mm.

Nozzle: 0.6mm or larger, standard stainless steel.

Spool Placement: Reducing friction and pull on Filamet™ during printing is important. Try hanging the filament spool just above the printer. Use a FilaWarmer to enhance success on the path from spool to printer.
