FAQ:
❓ Can I print this on my printer?
✅ Filamet™ is compatible with nearly all FFF/FDM based 3D printers on the market. Switch out the nozzle for a 0.6mm hardened steel nozzle and get printing! The list of printers that have been used and the ones that are not compatible can be found here: https://thevirtualfoundry.com/trusted-printers/
❓ What sintering equipment do I need?
✅ You need a kiln capable of reaching at least 1260°C in an inert or reducing atmosphere. The TVF Sintering Kiln and FireX Max are compatible with Inconel® 718. See our debind and sinter instructions for full profiles.
❓ What makes Inconel® 718 different from stainless steel options?
✅ Inconel® 718 is a nickel-chromium superalloy designed for extreme high-temperature environments. Unlike stainless steels, it retains strength above 600°C, making it the material of choice for turbines, combustion systems, and aerospace structural applications that stainless cannot handle.
❓ How strong are parts right off the printer?
✅ As-printed parts are quite a bit stronger than you may expect and can be handled just fine. They will not handle load nearly as well as the final sintered metal, but are robust enough for fitment checks and geometry verification before firing.
