About Us

The Virtual Foundry is the company that invented metal 3D printing on desktop FDM printers. We make it possible for engineers, researchers, makers, and manufacturers worldwide to print real, metal parts without million-dollar machines.

What We Make

Our flagship product, Filamet™, is a patented, highly-loaded metal composite filament. Print it on any FDM/FFF 3D printer you already own, then debind and sinter the part in a kiln — and you end up with a metal component. No expensive proprietary hardware. No service contracts. No gatekeeping. See how the process works.

Our material catalog spans copper, bronze, stainless steel, carbon steel, tool steel, titanium, tungsten, and more. We also develop custom alloys and supply OEM programs for defense, aerospace, medical, and industrial customers.

Why It Matters

Before Filamet™, metal 3D printing was out of reach for most organizations — locked behind expensive machines and proprietary workflows. We broke that barrier. Today, university labs, R&D teams, small manufacturers, and major companies alike use Filamet™ to prototype faster, iterate cheaper, and manufacture parts that couldn't exist before.

Who We Serve

Our customers include aerospace engineers printing lightweight titanium brackets, research labs printing custom electrode geometries in copper, defense contractors producing tungsten radiation shielding, and entrepreneurs building entirely new products — all on standard desktop printers. If you work with metal and you work with 3D printing, Filamet™ belongs in your workflow. See our customer trust page and sector briefs.

Made in the USA

The Virtual Foundry is headquartered in Wisconsin. Our filaments are developed, formulated, and quality-checked in the United States. We're a small, founder-led company with a global reach and a deep commitment to material quality, technical support, and pushing the frontier of what's printable.
